Terms of Use
Parlance is an iPhone app that shows you one word a day and helps you remember it. These terms cover your use of it.
Your licence
You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use Parlance on devices you own, under Apple's standard End User Licence Agreement, which applies in full. You may not resell the app, redistribute its word data as a dataset, or reverse-engineer it.
Subscriptions
- Parlance Plus is offered as a yearly or weekly auto-renewing subscription. The price shown at purchase is the price you pay, in your local currency.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- It renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the period.
- Where a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited if you buy a subscription during the trial.
- Manage or cancel in the Settings app under your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, not by us.
The word data
Definitions derive from the Open English WordNet, used under its licence. Example sentences and editorial notes are ours. Dictionaries contain mistakes; if you find one, tell us and we will fix it.
What we do not promise
Parlance is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing here affects your statutory consumer rights.
Changes and ending
These terms may change; the date above will change with them. You may stop using Parlance at any time by deleting it. We may suspend access if the app is used unlawfully.
